tacoboy, thanks for all your great contributions!
first of all, "every jam cruise show had plenty of decks plugged out of the board", it's a cute assumption, but it just isn't true. where are ALL those soundboard recordings? yeah, keep on waiting, it'll be any day now...
for those of you who weren't there (like tacoboy, obviously), here's a quickie:
there were sound problems at this show. it might've been hard for them to "listen to each other", b/c there were about 5 people MORE than the small stage could hold, and many of the horn players were SHARING mics that WEREN'T AMPLIFIED. same with the vocals. although it's TEEDY (not "tweedy") and JJ GREY (not "houseman"), plus liza oxnard, tacoboy did accidentally make a small point: you can't hear the vocals. but a soundboard copy of this show, if it existed, isn't going to bring a dead mic to life. THAT'S HOW IT SOUNDED, in the audience and on the stage.
listen to the show, if you find a single jam that ends up "hard and fast w/ no feeling", let me know. and as for horns being out of KEY and TIME with each other (wha?!), again, this guy is just stringing words together.
sorry to waste a review correcting someone else, but i just wanted the facts to be the last word. BIG THANKS TO ETHAN FOR TAPING THE SHOW -- if it wasn't for him you'd never get a chance to hear this. oh, i mean, until the soundboard comes out... :)

Did the last reviewer listen to this hsow? I took a listen and the playing overall is pretty poor. Sounds like all the horns are out of time and even out of key with each other. Every jam turns out the same (hard and fast w/ no feeling), no one is listening to each other, etc.
On "woman to woman" (the track w/ houseman & sista tweedy) you can not hear the vocaks for 90% of the track.
Stanton Moore is a giant (though not in sature), and this shows does him and the some of the fine musicians playing with him no justice. Though they do get better towards the end of the show.
If you must have this show though, wait for the soundboards... every jam cruise show had plenty of decks plugged out of the board.
